NOTE: After the Update in April, the Hammer now tries to “lock on” to certain targets. While this can be helpful, it makes Ground-aiming more difficult

Tips:

The hammer has 3 primary uses: First Strike, Assault, and Support:

First Strike: If you hit the “Sweet Spot”, you can take people out before they even know what happened.
Assault: The hammer can be a large threat if used on the offensive, especially if the other team has problems utilizing their own hammer. You can just about be a God.
Support: This normally only applies when Friendly Fire is OFF. Killing your own teammates is not fun. When an enemy is distracted with a teammate, they are an easy target. Also, dropping the hammer around the corner where your teammate is going to run out forces any ambush to be delayed from the opposing side.

Try not to use the hammer for defensive purposes. While it can be used effectively, the delay from the blast can leave an easy opening for a bum-rush. If the other team thinks they can catch you off-guard with the hammer, pull out a shotgun and show them how you play.

IMPORTANT: Never aim at where an enemy is. Aim where you expect them to be. When people hear the hammer, they know to move. They are more likely to move back towards their own spawn. Instead of aiming directly at a person, aim at the ground behind them. When they hear the hammer dropping, they will most likely walk into it. If they show no signs of moving while it is dropping, just move it slightly more towards them.
